Let’s Practice in Paradise

Nosara, Costa Rica

Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort

April 16-23, 2022

A typical day:

From your balcony set on top of a hill in a lush, tropical rainforest, you drink a coffee while observing the flawless turquoise waves peeling right out front. You feel the excitement of starting your day in a true yoga and surf mecca. On your minute-long walk to the onsite yoga shala, you spot a few monkeys swinging in the trees. You start your day with a heart-opening yoga class taught by Emily or Sarah, where assists, adjustments, and oils are offered. After class, you enjoy a healthy meal with fresh juices and local fruits. From there, Emily takes you to the beach out front to either relax or to ride some of the best waves of your life. You come back home incapable of wiping the grin off of your face. You walk with your new friends back to the yoga shala, where you enjoy a sunset restorative flow. You eat a local, organic meal and think about the jungle waterfall hike you’ll be taking the next day.

The Hidden Paradise of Nosara:

Located in the beautiful province of Guanacaste in the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica, the community of Nosara, known as one of the most sophisticated beach towns in Costa Rica. It’s charm stems from a community that is united in the care of their beautiful town. The local citizens take pride in their pristine beaches, wildlife, yoga, and sustainability.

About Bodhi Tree:

I (Emily) went to Bodhi Tree in early 2021 and told my husband it was the most beautiful yoga space I had ever practiced in in my entire life. I actually said out loud “I’m going to teach here one day”… and it’s an absolute dream that it’s now happening! Of all of the yoga spaces I have practiced in, this one is truly THE BEST. Enjoy high-end accommodations, superb dining experience, world class yoga and pilates studios, gym, spa, juice bar and boutique just steps away from the beach.

About Your teachers:

Emily Meersand and Sarah Oleson met at a Janet Stone Yoga Teacher training course 5 years ago in San Francisco, and knew they would meet again someday to share their love of the practice! Both Lovers of nature, all things beach and fun, wanderlusting into this magical collaboration was just too perfect. Sarah lived and taught yoga in Nosara for a large portion of the pandemic, and her deep knowledge of the area will be essential in ensuring all guests have an incredible experience in this sweet community!

What to expect

My recipe for a guaranteed epic retreat includes the following:

Daily Yoga: All retreats are centered around the yoga practice with a blend of Vinyasa Yoga, Restorative, specialized workshops, and meditation.

Soul-Warming Food: Every retreat comes with an in-house chef, who cooks fresh and delicious vegetarian and pescatarian meals that will feed your soul. Every retreat I have hosted, students always say “you never told me the food was going to be so amazing!”

Community: You know the feeling when your friends from different worlds become fast, easy friends? It’s just like that. I bring together my students and friends from different communities to join as one. You will feel a part of something, surrounding yourself with likeminded spirits who share the same zest for life. We build connection through inspiring conversations and a whole lot of laughter.

The Ocean: Most of my retreats are by the ocean. I personally choose a retreat location that will guarantee for playtime in the sea - including surfing, swimming, and daily walks in the sand. There’s something meditative about looking out at the horizon and falling asleep to the sound of the waves!

Culture & Adventure: Experiencing a new culture is like stepping into a whole new world: you're exposed to different languages, smells, colors, sights, sounds, and people. Taking the time to travel to a different part of the world and a new culture will completely change your life. On every retreat, you should expect a fun, cultural experience!
